FAQs

How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?

You may not! During our first few sessions, we will be gaining an understanding of one another and if we are a good fit or not. I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship is paramount to effective therapy. Therefore, I will make sure to let you know if there seems to be any barriers in our working together. Many people have a hard time opening up to a stranger. These types of barriers are normal and something we will help you with. After all, this may be a completely new process for you.

How can I benefit from individual therapy?

Research has shown that effective therapy can lead to reductions in anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms. Additional benefits include improved family dynamics and relationships, reduced experiential avoidance, enhanced emotional regulation, and greater self-compassion.

What is out-of-network? What is a superbill?

I am an out-of-network provider, meaning I do not have an agreement with any insurance company. A superbill is something I provide to you that, if you have out-of-network benefits, you can provide to your insurance company in order to receive reimbursement for our session together. Although you may have out of network benefits, each payer and plan is different and the amount you are reimbursed will be different. Please inquire with your insurance about out-of-network coverage.

Some questions you can ask your insurance include:

How do I know group therapy would be a good fit for me?

You may not! Through our group intake session together, we will determine if group therapy would be helpful for you.

How is group therapy different from individual therapy?

Imagine having a safe, confidential space to practice new ways of relating to others compared to the higher stakes of doing so in your personal relationships. This allows you to explore and express your authentic self while receiving feedback from others in the group. This can help you build confidence and gradually apply these new ways of connecting to your relationships and life outside of the group.

I'm already in individual therapy. Can I go to group therapy too?

Absolutely! Group therapy can be a helpful addition to individual therapy. However, I will ask you to consult with your individual therapist to ensure they believe you would benefit from group therapy.

Will I benefit from doing an online group as opposed to an in-person group?

Short answer: You could! Long answer: What you bring to group therapy has a direct impact on how much you get out of group, regardless of in-person or online. Additionally, although this is not in person, group members are able to participate from the comfort of their own home. For some, this provides a space for increased engagement.
